InForm Riders Touch Down in Europe and Take Off with Trinity

In light of the recent partnership between InForm TMX Make and Trinity Racing. Our team is eager to see four of our talented U23 riders take on Europe, in some of the top U23 races in the world. Rudy Porter, Carter Turnbull, Tom Benton and Blake Quick have recently embarked on the next steps of their cycling journeys.  

 

The Journey

Both Rudy Porter and Carter Turnbull have already settled in and are underway with regular training in Girona, Spain. Porter and Turnbull both started with InForm in 2017, embarking on their journey in the U19 development team. Both riders quickly transitioned into InForm TMX Make’s race team.

Tom Benton and Blake Quick have recently departed Melbourne, set to arrive in Belgium to undertake their training with Trinity Racing. Benton joined InForm’s development team in 2018, swiftly progressing from here. Quick has been the most recent member of InForm TMX MAKE, joining the team in this season of 2021.

Selection

Porter, Turnbull and Benton were selected for the Trinity race team following the 2021 U23 National Championships. They were selected after Benton placed 1st with Porter and Turnbull snatching up 2nd and 3rd placings in the road race. Turnbull also captivated us by winning the men’s U23 Time Trial.

Past performances from the riders over the last 12 months have had a big influence on the choice to send these riders to Europe, however these results at nationals confirmed the riders were ready to race at the next level.

Blake Quick was chosen to ride with Trinity based on his notable previous results. Quick has proven himself numerous times collecting a number of high-quality results, racing at Continental level in Asia over the past few years.

Performance

Carter Turnbull and Rudy Porter are strong climbers and will be based in Girona, Spain to race in the hillier events. The mountainous surrounding of Girona will suit the rider’s fortes, allowing them to perform at their best. Carter Turnbull additionally excels in time trials, he will look to target these races in an endeavour to pick up some results.

 

 Blake Quick and Tom Benton will be based in Belgium, targeting the flat to moderate hilled races. Quick excels on flat terrain and rivals’ others when it comes to fast bunch sprints. Benton thrives in tough races utilising his endurance to outlast others. He will be valuable for his team mates as he can ride on the front for an entire race. Benton is arriving in Belgium as national champion in Australia, being attentively watched by competitors.

 

Racing

Rudy Porter will be the first rider to race. On the 16th to 18th of July he will perform in the Giro Ciclistico della Valle d'Aosta - Mont Blanc. Carter Turnbull’s first race will be the Tour Alsace commencing on the 21st of July and concluding on the 25th July.

Blake Quick and Tom Benton will be racing in the UCI races in Belgium and Holland beginning in mid August.

We are excited and eager to see the guys test themselves at the next level. They will be performing against the best U23 riders in the world. Each of these riders have proven that they are at the top of the U23 riders in Australia, this will be a great opportunity for them to develop and gain experience. Along with this they will be able to show off their talents in hope to get noticed by the European teams. We wish them luck.
