Lucas Plapp (20) , Conor Leahy (22) and Kell O’Brien (23) have proven they can outride and outperform hundreds of athletes within Australia. InForm TMX Make is proud to have seen, encouraged and coached the trio in achieving such impressive results over the past few years. Now, we get to watch in anticipation as they make their debut into the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games and represent Australia against some of the fittest and strongest riders, in some incredible events. Kell O’Brien joined InForm TMX Make at the beginning of this year, Conor Leahy has been a part of the team since 2019 and Lucas Plapp has also been riding with the team since 2019.

Events

Lucas Plapp and Kell O’brien will be making their Olympic introduction with the Team Pursuit qualifying event in the Izu Velodrome on Monday the 2nd of August.

The two riders have eagerness and focus on all aspects of the Games, however, the Team Pursuit event is one they hope to outrival other teams in. O’Brien excels in this event following his results in the 2018 Commonwealth Games, winning gold with teammates Sam Welsford, Leigh Howard and Alex Porter. Plapp is new to the squad but brings a huge amount of strength as shown with his Time Trial results, being the under 23 individual time trial champion in 2020.
Conor Leahy is locked in as a reserve. Leahy has trained exceptionally and will be racing if one of the members falls sick or is injured.

General Manager of InForm TMX MAKE, Pat Lane wishes the riders luck and leaves the following message:

“ Kell & Luke have dedicated the last few years to prepare for the Olympics and I’m very excited to see what they can achieve. They have been so committed to winning gold in Tokyo and I’m sure they have what it takes to bring it home. I’m equally excited to see what the next chapter holds when they transition to the road and can’t wait to see them take the same level of dedication into the years ahead.”

A message from InForm

The team hopes they enjoy the experience of being Olympians and can make Australia proud. We would love to see them come home with a medal around their necks!

Past Results

Kell O’Brien has proven himself time and time again, with six national titles to his name. A particularly notable event was at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast. O'Brien won dual national and dual Oceania crowns. O’Brien continued to excel winning World Cup gold, with three other riders, becoming the first team in history to break the three-minute fifty-second barrier.

It did not stop there, 2019 O’Brien defended the team pursuit world title and continued to win multiple events throughout the Australian National Road series that year. Making his next impressions in 2020 O’Brien won the Under 23 Criterium Championships in 2021 he took home second in the 185km road race at the 2021 Australian championships.
