Cycle Sunshine Coast
This upcoming weekend InForm TMX MAKE riders are headed to the sunshine coast to battle it out over three exciting days of racing. The team line up for this weekend will include; Brenton Jones, Raphael Freienstein, Carter Turnbull, Blake Agnoletto, Josh Duffy, James Moriarty and Blake Quick. The USC Cycle Sunshine Coast will be a big event for the team, as Inform TMX MAKE comes within striking distance for the NRS overall win and Cycle Sunshine Coast will be the decider. From the 17th-19th of December the riders will battle it out over four stages. Two road races, one criterium and one Time Trial.
Stage One – Friday 17th December
Stage one is an exciting evening, with a criterium racing around the city centre of Maroochydore. At approximately 7pm the Men’s criterium will kick off. A course spanning 900m with 70.7m of elevation its looking to be a fast three laps of racing. Being a former national criterium champion, Brenton Jones will be watched with eagle eyes being one of the favourites for this opening crit. Blake Quick and Josh Duffy will also be fast riders throughout this stage.
Stage Two – Saturday 18th December
Stage two takes to the hills, commencing in Peachester. The course is an 18.3km loop with an elevation of 284m. The men will begin at 10:30, nailing 8 laps of this course it will come to a tricky total of 162km with a total climb of 1,960m. Carter Turnbull will be well suited to the Peachester road race, due to his speed and endurance in the hillier races. It is likely that he will end up in the breakaway. Raphael Freienstein and Blake Agnolleto also have a great chance to impress, with Freienstein being suited to punchy hills and sprint finishes and Agnolleto pushing when the race gets tough.
Stage Three- Sunday 19th December
The next road race will take place on Sunday morning at 6:30am. The North Arm Circuit is a 9.9km course with an elevation of 70.7km. The men will complete 9 laps of this circuit bringing the total distance to 99km and total climbing to 1,201m. We should see similar results as stage two from Turnbull, Freienstein and Agnolleto throughout this road race.
Stage Four- Sunday 19th December
The final stage brings the team to the University of the Sunshine Coast. The USC Time Trial will test the limits. The final day of Cycle Sunshine Coast will be the ultimate speed test.
Riders will battle it out for the best time completing just two laps of the 3.1 km track. Josh Duffy has a good chance to impress as this stage will suit his style of riding from the track. Blake Quick’s expertise in sprinting should also come in handy during the TT.
James Moriarty is an excellent all-rounder for InForm and tends to excel at everything, he will be important in helping the leaders in each of the four stages.
InForm TMX MAKE is ready to give it our all at Cycle Sunshine Coast. Regular updates will be made throughout the event on the social media pages for the team. Stay tuned!
