Back to the Racing -

The USC Cycle Sunshine Coast Tour was a smashing success for InForm TMX MAKE.

Stage One

Stage one was an exciting evening, with a criterium racing around the city centre of Maroochydore. At 7:25 pm the Men’s criterium kicked off. A course spanning 900m with 70.7m of elevation. It was a fast and aggressive Race. Each of the riders worked extremely hard throughout the race and Brenton Jones sprinting expertise came into play. The InForm team stayed up front, keeping Brenton Jones motivated and protected through the race. Raphael Freinstein took on a few of the sprints taking the pressure off for a few of the laps. In the end Brenton Jones had it in him to cross the line first. It was a great start to the tour.

Stage Two

Stage Two took to the hills of Peachester. The course was an 18.3km loop with an elevation of 284m. The men rode a total of 8 laps, 162km and 1,960m of elevation. The Mens Elite road race took off at 10:30. This day challenged our riders and they all had to find it in them to give it their all. The team rode really strong, controlling the entire race as planned. However, in the last lap, Bridgelane attacked. The boys tried to chase them down, getting Brenton Jones back up to the front in time for the sprint finish. Brenton finished third, still in the leaders jersey and they headed into day three still leading.

Stage Three

The second road race took place on Sunday morning at 6:30am. The North Arm Circuit was a 9.9km course with an elevation of 70.7km. The men completed 9 laps of this circuit bringing the total distance to 99km and total climbing to 1,201m. This course suited our riders extremely well and from the beginning they were motivated to take the stage win. The early morning start was tough but the riders looked forward to the course. They controlled the entire race again, picking up more time in the intermediates and leading Brenton Jones out for the win at the end. Still holding onto the leaders jersey it was all down to the final TT.

Stage Four

The final stage brought the team to the University of the Sunshine Coast. The USC Time Trial tested the limits. The final day of Cycle Sunshine Coast and it was the ultimate speed test.

Riders battled it out for the best time completing just two laps of the 3.1 km track. Every single rider rode with a great speed. Up until the final three riders Blake Quick and James Moriarty were set to be on the podium, however, Brenton Jones bettered the times and moved into first. The final results saw Brenton Jones as the winner of stage four and Blake Quick in third place.

The excitement did not stop here. Presentations saw Brenton Jones for the overall tour win and sprinters Jersey. Along with this InForm TMX MAKE was presented as the overall 2021 National Road Series Team Champions.
