InForm X TRINITY 2021 Wrap

A Bit About the TRINITY X InForm Partnership

InForm TMX MAKE and TRINITY racing have been a part of a partnership that began early in 2021. The partnership will extend over to 2022.

2021 brought great success for the collaboration with both teams. InForm TMX MAKE riders were provided with an opportunity to race the top Under 23 races in the world. For TRINITY racing, they were provided access to some of Australia’s most talented under 23 riders. The selected riders who travelled from Australia to Europe were given exposure to the continental European level of racing and were handed an opportunity to develop as riders.

The Founder and Director of TRINITY sports management, Andrew McQuaid states “for TRINITY to form a partnership with InForm TMX MAKE makes a lot of sense, it became apparent that we had the same goals for our riders and we want the world’s best for our riders”. - Andrew McQuaid

The strategic partnership between both teams came to life in mid-July 2021. With four InForm TMX MAKE riders making the trip over to Europe. Pathway coordinator of InForm TMX MAKE, Simon Gerran’s describes the partnership by stating “Our relationship with TRINITY is off to a great start with four of our riders currently in Europe mixing it up with some of the best in the world”. - Simon Gerrans

Rudy Porter, Carter Turnbull, Blake quick and Tom Benton embarked on the next steps of their cycling journeys. Both Rudy Porter and Carter Turnbull were the first to arrive, beginning training in Gerona, Spain. Tom Benton and Blake Quick arrived shortly after, setting up for training in Belgium. Each of the riders had approximately one month to train and get acclimatised to their new surroundings.

Porter, Turnbull and Benton were selected for the TRINITY race team following the 2021 U23 National Championships in Australia. They were selected after Benton placed 1st with Porter and Turnbull snatching up 2nd and 3rd placings in the road race. Turnbull also impressed again, placing 1st in the Mens U23 Time Trial. The past performances from these riders had a big influence on the choice to send them to Europe however these results at nationals confirmed the riders were ready to race at the next level. Blake Quick was chosen to join the riders due to his notable past results.

Racing With Trinity and the Riders Seasons in Europe

Rudy Porter was the first rider to race with TRINITY. “It was three days of hard, hot and hilly stages” -TRINITY.  On the 16th-18th of July Porter rode in the Giro Valle D’Aosta. Placing 10th overall in the General Classification and 5th overall in the Youth classification, it was a fabulous start for the young rider.

“We have also welcomed another Aussie rider, Carter Turnbull, via our partnership with the Australian based outfit and he will be hitting the road with the team at the Tour Alsace.” – TRINITY. Carter Turnbull’s first race was the Tour Alsace, which commenced on the 21st of July. This race was another great introduction for the InForm rider.

Blake Quick and Tom Benton joined TRINITY in the UCI races in Belgium and Holland also known as The Tour Series, which commenced in mid-August. A notable achievement was Blake Quick’s result in the final round of The Tour Series, where he scooped up 8th place in the criterium race. Both riders performed well throughout the series.

One of the biggest races on the calendar between the partnership of InForm TMX MAKE and TRINITY racing was the Tour of Britain. Rudy Porter was selected, among other TRINITY riders to race in this event. Prior to the event when asked how the rider was feeling, Porter responded “I'm feeling ecstatic, this is another opportunity to get some top level racing experience. I am looking forward to racing alongside some of the best in the sport. Such as Wout Van Aert and the World Champion Julian Alaphilippe.”- Rudy Porter. Performing well throughout the race, Porter put in a huge effort. Unfortunately, he had to withdraw with just 2 stages to go due to a stomach virus.

Future of partnership – Moving into 2022 and beyond

The Partnership will remain the same for 2022, with four more riders heading over to battle it out as a part of TRINITY racing “What I am looking forward to in 2022, is to hopefully build on from 2021, have more riders come over. Help them get results, help them maybe turn pro or go to the World Tour. Or even to stay on the following year and sign with TRINITY”- Andrew McQuaid. Moving beyond this, it is undecided what the future years will bring for the collaboration. “With the agreement in place for 2022 we look forward to providing the same opportunity for four more riders” - Simon Gerran’s

Thank You for the Great Season TRINITY!
