Carlee Taylor Signs with InForm TMX MAKE
Carlee Taylor, the former professional cyclist is set to join us at InForm TMX MAKE in 2022. Taylor is the first to sign with the newly announced women’s team and will be an excellent role model to all who join the team.
Carlee Taylor is well known for being a devotee to the Australian pro racing scene. She is well recognised for her shining personality and respected for her impressive talent.
What started years ago as just a cycling kit as a gift for her 14th birthday, quickly expanded into a career as an athlete. The Australian Institute of Sport had quickly recognised Taylor’s talent sending her around the world to be pitted against some of the best riders.
“When I was young I used to go and watch my dad compete in all the local club races, and on my 14th birthday he bought me my first cycling kit. I didn't know it at the time, but that present was the most used birthday present I ever got. I started training a bit with my dad and racing too, and cycling has been such a massive part of my life ever since! “ - Carlee Taylor
Taking up cycling in 2007 Carlee Taylor retired gracefully from the pro cycling scene in 2018. Her final race was in Adelaide, her home town, to ride in the Tour Down Under. Taylor received some amazing achievements throughout her years of cycling. To name a few, she performed extraordinarily well in the Route De France in 2012 and became 2 x Champion of the National U23 Road Race.
“Women's cycling has come a long way since I 'retired' from racing overseas, but the Route de France used to be one of the biggest women’s tours on the calendar (behind the Giro Rosa). Getting 2 podiums here, one being a 3rd in the stage finishing on top of La Planche des Belles Filles has to be one of my highlights, whilst also coming 3rd that year in the GC of Route De France (2012). Wearing the climbers jersey for a few days in the Giro Rosa and being 2x National U23 Road Race Champion are a few other highlights.” - Carlee Taylor
The team at InForm TMX MAKE look forward to welcoming Carlee Taylor to the team. She will be involved in encouraging, teaching and racing with the team. Taylor is at the leading edge of women in cycling and we can’t wait to see her motivate others.
“Having been involved in the sport for a little while now, I'm really looking forward to helping some of the younger riders in the team become the best cyclists they can be, and help the team win bike races. I wouldn't be racing, if I didn't have that competitiveness in me though, i’m pretty motivated to bring some good legs whenever I pin on a number. It's pretty exciting to be involved in a team which has helped develop so many youngsters in the sport. How Nathan and Pat have worked on this so far has been amazing. I'm really looking forward to racing with these ladies.” - Carlee Taylor
DS of InForm TMX MAKE’s newly founded women’s team, Nathan Elliot, looks forward to the leadership Carlee Taylor will bring to the team.
“I am very excited to have Carlee on board. With numerous years of riding in the women's World Tour for teams such as Orica-AIS ( now Team BikeExchange) and Lotto Soudal, Carlee will bring a tremendous amount of experience and leadership to the team. Carlee compliments our roster perfectly and her knowledge on and off the bike will be invaluable to the whole team, particularly to the younger riders.” - Nathan Elliot
