David Williams Feature
Recently, 20 year old InForm TM Insight MAKE rider David ‘Fox’ Williams joined Instagram live to chat about his cycling career to date.
Williams grew up with an interest in cycling. He would often race his brother around the block and pretend they were winning their races. Their interest in the sport eventually escalated to getting a road bike.
“My brother decided he wanted a road bike and I was like if he is getting one I want one. I started riding and hated it, I was getting beaten every single time we went out for a ride,” Williams said.
In 2018 Williams joined InForm TM Insight MAKE.
“I was riding as an individual, I knew Cam and Matt McKimm. One year I decided to send them an email about joining the team. We had a meeting and it went from there.”
Williams has made plenty of highlights since joining the team. He won KOM in a UCI race in Belgium, represented the national team in two Jayco Herald Sun Tours, and won the young rider category at the 2020 Melbourne to Warrnambool.
In January, Williams surprised himself by finishing 12th overall in the U23 National Road Race at Buninyong.
“I went into it knowing I had good form. I thought my best bet was to sit there and hold on for as long as I could. But instead, I started racing a bit more and being a bit more aggressive, the way that I rode was surprising to me.”
Away from the racing scene, Williams loves jumping on the bike for fun rides away.
“Earlier this year I took a break with a few friends and went bike packing. We did four days, carried our stuff around, and had a little adventure around Victoria, which was refreshing. It made us love the bike and appreciate what we have.”
Everyone at InForm TM Insight MAKE is excited to see what the future holds for David.
