Recently, young gun Pat Eddy joined Instagram live to chat about his cycling career to date.

Eddy’s love for cycling began at the age of 9 when his parents got bikes in Echuca.

“My older brother Sam started riding so I did too. I played a lot of footy when I was younger but I liked racing my bike more, so I got rid of my footy for the bike,” Eddy said.

After an impressive 2018 season which resulted in Eddy becoming the U17 national time trial, criterium, and tracks champion, Eddy joined InForm TM Insight MAKE.

Since joining the team, Eddy has become a two-time U19 national time trial champion and has represented Australia at the Junior World Championships.

But the biggest highlight to date is claiming victory in the U19 National Road Race and completing the quinella with brother Sam in 2019.

“Going one-two with my brother Sam was pretty awesome, it was such a good day. It was my first race for the team and the whole team got around it, I think that tops it.”

In January, Eddy became the U19 National Time Trial Champion for the second consecutive year.

“Leading into the 2019 UCI Road World Championships, I worked on my time trial a lot so it’s probably my favourite event and one I put a lot of pressure on myself to perform well in. To win it was a real highlight for me, I was stoaked that day to get up.”

Eddy will turn eighteen later this year. His long term goal is to race in Europe in the next few years.

“I’d love to head over to Europe and race at both under 23 and world tour level, probably the one-day classics and time trials over there.”

Everyone at InForm TM Insight MAKE is excited to see what the future holds for Pat when cycling resumes.
