InForm TM Insight MAKE Staying Motivated During Cycling Shut Down
During these uncertain times, InForm TM Insight MAKE has been finding ways to stay competitive and motivated.
Over the past week, the boys have been competing against each other in a Grand Tour, to give themselves something to train for while cycling is suspended due to COVID-19.
“Like the rest of the world, the boys don’t have much going on at the moment. With no firm confirmation when they will be able to race again we needed a good challenge to keep them motivated,” DS Pat Lane said.
The tour consists of 21 stages over the next three weeks. The boys are required to individually complete the stage winners time of the 2019 Tour De France. Pat Lane is keeping track of who does the most kilometers during that time to determine the stage winners and general classification leader.
The tour is beneficial to the team because it allows them to stay in shape, try something new and see how far they can push themselves before cycling resumes.
“Most athletes will be sitting around complaining about the current situation, if our guys are out doing their first Grand Tour then they will be in much better shape than the competition at the end of it,” Lane said.
The tour is also about having a laugh and a bit of banter over the teams online chat group, which is important during these uncertain times.
Five stages of the tour have been completed and Carter Turnbull is leading on General Classification after remarkably finishing first in the first four stages, Sam Eddy claimed the fifth stage.
Current General Classification after five stages
1. Carter Turnbull – 649km
2. Rudy Porter – 616km
3. Will Moloney-Morton – 608km
4. Jarrad Drizners* - 595km
5. Sam Eddy – 594km
6. Luke Plapp – 457km
7. Blake Agnoletto – 172km
8. Pat Eddy – 155km
