Connor Leahy and Josh Duffy combined on Sunday night to win the Bendigo International Madison at the Tom Flood Sports Centre.

It was a sweet victory for the pair but more so for Connor Leahy, who horrifically crashed in the same race 12 months ago. “I was in a leg brace for 7 weeks, so I wasn’t training again for another 2 months or so after that and then racing 3 months after, so I’m stoked,” Leahy said post-race.

In an entertaining edition of the Madison that saw Leahy and Duffy become one of two teams to lap the field, it all came down to a points race with Jensen Plowright and Bill Simpson.

The InForm TM Insight MAKE teammates and Cycling Australia Track Academy athletes proved to be too strong for their rivals, finishing with plus one lap and 42 points, which was eight points clear of Plowright and Simpson.

Duffy, who also won the Norm Manskie Memorial Scratch Race the night before, was confident he could win the race with Leahy. “Connor and I came into this knowing that we were a pretty good combo together,” Duffy said post-race.

In other events at the Bendigo International Madison over the weekend,  Blake Agnoletto continued his impressive form by taking out the Golden Mile Wheel race with a time of 1:36.91.

It was another big win on the track for Agnoletto, after winning the JM19 individual Pursuit at the Victorian Senior Track Championships the weekend prior.
